Switching NDIS Providers on the Gold Coast: What You Need to Know
You have the right to change your NDIS provider at any time — and exercising that right when something is not working is one of the smartest things a participant can do. This guide explains exactly how to switch providers without disrupting your supports or wasting plan funding.

The NDIS is built on choice and control, which means you are never locked into a provider permanently. Whether your current supports feel inconsistent, your support worker keeps changing, or you simply want a provider that is more local to the Gold Coast or Northern NSW, you have every right to make a change. Do not let a provider pressure you into staying.
Step One: Read Your Current Service Agreement
Your service agreement will specify the notice period you need to give before ending the arrangement — typically between 2 and 4 weeks. Read it carefully before you do anything else so there are no surprises. Check whether there are any exit fees or conditions, and note the name of the person or team you should contact to formally end services.
Step Two: Find Your New Provider Before You Leave
Arrange your new provider before you give notice so there is no gap in your supports. Contact PurpleCare or another provider in your area, discuss your goals, and agree on a start date that aligns with your exit from the current arrangement. Having everything lined up in advance makes the transition seamless and protects your day-to-day routine.
Step Three: Give Formal Notice in Writing
Send a written notice to your current provider — email is fine — stating your intention to end the service agreement and the date your last shift will be. Keep a copy of everything. If your plan is NDIA-managed, your current provider will be removed from your plan and your new provider added; your support coordinator or the NDIA can assist with this if needed.
Step Four: Brief Your New Provider Thoroughly
Share your NDIS plan goals, any relevant health information, your daily routine, and any preferences about how your support worker delivers your care. The more your new team knows upfront, the faster they can provide support that genuinely fits your life. PurpleCare's onboarding process is designed to get Gold Coast and Northern NSW participants comfortable with their new support worker from the very first shift.

Frequently asked questions
Will switching NDIS providers affect my funding?
No. Your NDIS funding stays with you when you switch providers. You simply end one service agreement and begin another — your plan and your budget are not affected.
Can I switch providers mid-plan?
Yes, you can switch at any point during your plan. You do not need to wait for your plan review date. Check your current service agreement for the required notice period and plan accordingly.
How quickly can PurpleCare start supporting me after I switch?
Once your service agreement with PurpleCare is signed, we work to match you with a suitable support worker as quickly as possible. For Gold Coast and Northern NSW participants, contact us to discuss your timeline and we will do our best to meet it.
